Filippo Dibari qualified as a Food Science and Technologist in 1993 (University of Udine) and then as Public Health Nutritionist in 2003 (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine). He worked for four years in the Brazilian Amazon jungle in fruit processing with poor farmers and doing research with local universities. He then worked for UN agencies (FAO, WFP, IFAD) and for international NGOs in Africa, Latin America and Asia. Since 2005 he has been working for Valid International who is also sponsoring his PhD research in Kenya. Through this research, he is designing and testing a novel ready to use therapeutic food targeted at malnourished adults living with HIV. The project also involves collecting data about their food and nutrition security. Professional skills: design (using Linear Programming approach) and testing (nutrition epidemiology) of novel therapeutic foods; coverage surveys for nutrition programs; GIS mapping and data analysis; quality assurance of food production.
